Introducing English and Maths on the Move!

Ever wondered how can you get children engaged in learning, improve their concentration, increase their confidence, make concepts easier to understand and raise attainment?

Get them up and on the move!

Not only does physically active learning boost activity levels and reduce sedentary time, it’s also proven to facilitate understanding.

This year we’re working along side Aspire to help pupils get up and moving whilst still learning their core subjects.

Our On the Move primary school programmes raise the profile of physical activity in your school, increase activity levels, and boost subject confidence and attainment. These programmes are designed by teachers, aligned to the national curriculum, and tailored to meet your pupils’ needs.

What can Maths on the Move do for your school?

It can raise maths attainment. Research proves that brain function is enhanced through physical activity. Combining maths and movement makes concepts easier to understand, increases focus and improves retention.

It boosts maths confidence. Moving maths to an environment outside of the classroom and pairing it with physical activity reduces anxiety, breaks down barriers and improves attitudes.

Maths on the Move increases physical activity levels. Adding movement throughout the curriculum gives children more opportunities to be active and achieve the recommended 1 hour of physical activity a day.

It also raises the profile of physical activity. Bringing movement into the classroom raises the profile of physical activity in schools by demonstrating the benefits of integrating movement into the learning environment. By making physical activity more accessible and embedding it into the school day, a culture of movement is created which inspires children to be more active outside of school.

To start with, on the Move improves children’s cognitive performance. A growing body of academic research proves that brain function is enhanced through physical activity. An increase in concentration, accuracy and efficiency all contribute to higher attainment in English.

English on the move is also a change of learning environment. English on the Move gives children a new way of learning. By tackling English tasks in a different context, attitudes can be improved and barriers broken down.

It also aims to improve engagement and retention. Memorable learning experiences, coupled with physical movement, boost engagement. The result? Greater retention of information.
