NORTH EAST PLAN

We love being in and around our community hosting free events that we can get as many people to as possible. We’ve always centred all our plans around full inclusivity and making sure our sessions are designed so that everyone can take part. We try to cover as many areas of Barnsley as we can, bringing in help and funding from all the local Ward Alliances. So, with this in mind, last year we started our Grassroots in the park events with only a few dates through the 6-week holidays. We didn’t do nearly half the events that we’re doing now. This shows how much we have not only grown in the past year, but also how many opportunities are coming our way from the local councils. This year we’ve been able to extend our Grassroots in the park sessions all the way past Christmas. Yes… don’t worry, of course we’re doing a Christmas party!

This year we’ve once again partnered up with the North East Ward Alliance, and for 12 whole months you can find us in 4 different locations through the North East of Barnsley. Our Grassroots van is stopping in Brierley Park, Shafton Green, Pleasent Avenue Park in Great Houghton and Grimethorpe Red City throughout the year. We’ve filled our van jam full of so much different equipment and we’re bringing it to all these different dates. Including, water fun and games, traditional sports, multi sports, a Halloween Disco in October plus much, much more. If you yourself have any suggestions to any sports, you’d like us to do please get in touch, we’re always open to different ideas.

Coach Cian said “I’m so excited about these events. These have been brilliant so far and we’ve had so many different people joining each time. My favourite so far has been Archery at Red City Park in Grimethorpe. Everyone was so happy to join in and participate. We had a field full of people who come to all our sessions week in and week out. There is faces we’ve been seeing since last years events still coming back. It makes our jobs so worth it!”
